What makes Barabbas Road Church in San Diego so distinct is the people. As a whole, the church is made up of Christians who are hungry to hear and learn from the Word of God. This includes people who have been Christians for a long time, brand new Christians and also people who have never been to church prior to attending Barabbas Road Church.
One common theme found in a lot of the people at Barabbas Road Church is that many of them grew up going to church; however, at some point in their lives they stopped going to church for various reasons. Some of the people prior to coming to Barabbas have been hurt by their former church, so they have not had the desire to go to church for many years. Some of the people stopped going to church because their former church failed to truly preach and teach the Bible; therefore, they never fully understood the Bible and Christianity, so they walked away.
There are many examples of how the people of Barabbas came to the church; however, there seems to be one common theme for everyone about why they stay. That one common theme is that they are passionate about hearing the Word of God taught and preached. This emphasis on bible-based teaching and preaching has developed a culture of one-another care and discipleship at Barabbas Road Church.
The people that make up Barabbas Road Church are not a clique or a certain type of demographic. The people that make up Barabbas Road Church are imperfect people who desperately need a savior and have the desire to grow in their faith and grow in the truths of the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
