Barabbas Road Church in San Diego Offers Many Classes on Christianity
One of the most popular resources that Barabbas Road Church in San Diego offers is Barabbas University. Barabbas University is a self-proclaimed and unaccredited University that is run by Barabbas Road Church. Barabbas University is for Christians living in the San Diego area who want a deeper understanding the Bible and Christianity. Barabbas University is also for people who may not be Christian but are interested in learning more about Christianity. Barabbas University is a great way for a person to get a Christian education and learn more about the Bible and who God really is. The classes at Barabbas University help a person dig into the truths of the Bible and take one’s faith to a deeper level that they might not otherwise understand.
Barabbas University classes are held on Sunday and Tuesday evenings. The two classes that are held on Sunday nights are a foundation class and a Christian counseling class. The foundation class walks through systematic theology. Also, the class spends some time going all the major world views. This class is a fun and interactive class that teaches the basic truths of the Bible that are valuable for all Christians.
The Christian counseling class begins after the Foundation class; therefore, a person can go to each class on a Sunday night. The Christian counseling class walks the class through the curriculum from IBCD which stands for the Institute for Biblical Counseling and discipleship. There are 40 classes in this program and once completed a student will receive a credited Christian Counseling certificate. This class is for those who want to learn how to use the Bible to counsel people knowing scripture is sufficient to counsel. This class will help equip students to counsel other people in the church and other areas.
On Tuesday night’s the other two classes offered are Theology 201 and Apologetics 201. The Theology 201 class is a step up from the Foundations class. In this class Pastor Matt digs deeper into the foundations of Christianity as he goes through books like, “Calvin’s Institutes” by John Calvin and “Strange Fire,” by John MacArthur. Apologetics 201 is the most popular class as Pastor Matt equips the class to be able to handle the intellectual skepticism and Gnosticism found throughout the world, especially in the culture of San Diego. Pastor Matt teaches through the Bible and various books to teach on presuppositional apologetics. In this class Pastor Matt looks to answer questions like, “Can truth be known” and “How can we know that truth exists?”
